Why is hypnotherapy so powerful for creating change?
People sometimes think change requires willpower that they just don't have—an ability to take hard action and brute-force themselves into new ways of being.
But when we struggle with patterns we just can't change, that's often a calling to heal our relationship to ourselves. Underneath those unwanted patterns is the quicksand of old stories, wounding and beliefs that has trapped you—usually in a misguided attempt to avoid pain or get love.
When you heal what's really underneath those patterns, invite safety into the body, and generate useful new strategies in the mind, then taking action to make a desired change can feel effortless.
Hypnotherapy accomplishes this by uncovering and transforming your motivations at the level of the subconscious, or, the part of you beyond your daily awareness that drives most of your behavior. Your record of the past, your instincts, your repressed memories, beliefs and emotions, every function of the body...

HYPNOSIS
Exploring this vast inner world with a skilled facilitator leads to greater self-awareness and a deeply impactful personal evolution.
Why does it work? We can reference mountains of exciting research to define your capacity for change in terms of neuroplasticity, and discuss ways that the brain creates new neural networks more easily in brainwave states accessed by hypnosis, enabling you to "wire-in" new patterns of behavior in a single session.
Or, we could talk about how hypnosis, when used to train attention and awareness, can greatly expand your inner perception, serving as a portal into the spiritual process of awakening to the ego and the true self, helping you cultivate mindfulness and release attachments to stories that have kept you stuck.

"Morgan is truly a gifted soul... her intuition and caring nature are top notch. She is so easy to talk to, like a close friend or a sibling. She helped me get in touch with emotions that I was suppressing and helped me heal a heavy issue in my life that was adversely affecting my health."

MYTH-BUSTING
What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is just a way to facilitate a change in a brainwave that relaxes you and expands your inner perception.
While we're mostly operating from highly active beta brainwave states associated with mental alertness and logical thinking, hypnosis calms the mind to slower bands of alpha or theta brainwaves, giving us greater awareness of our emotions, memories, and sensations, and helping us access our creative, problem-solving intelligence.
Can I get stuck in hypnosis?
Never. I will always count you out of hypnosis at the end of every session, but if an interruption were to happen—like an internet connection going out during our session—you will be very capable of returning yourself to a normal state of consciousness. Participation is a choice that can be revoked at any time.
Is hypnosis like sleep?
No. You will likely feel very relaxed, but you will be awake and aware during hypnosis.
Is hypnosis basically mind-control?
No. You never lose consciousness and you retain full discernment. I can't make you say things you don't want to say, or do things you don't want to do, and I would never try!
What if I can't be hypnotized?
This is the question I hear most often from new clients, and they are always pleasantly surprised by their experience. If you're concerned, it can be helpful to think of hypnosis as a skill you consent to learning, or a journey you choose to participate in.
Some people journey deep within right away, others may have a subtle experience of feeling gently relaxed and more introspective. Everyone can go deeper with practice, and everyone has access to these states of consciousness (remember, it's just a natural change in a brianwave).
So I just close my eyes and you say nice things to me, right?
Not quite! Our sessions are dynamic. We may spend time before the hypnotic portion of our session practicing useful exercises or techniques. Then, during hypnosis you may talk, process information internally, engage in emotional release, or even move a bit.
(And, yes, sometimes you will be deeply relaxed while I deliver powerful suggestions to your subconscious mind).
It's best to approach every single session with the mindset that you are an active participant in your own transformation. You will progress light years further when our sessions aren't just passively happening to you, but rather a process that you engage in with curiosity and intention.

Memory regression sounds scary! What if I go back to traumatizing experiences?
When revisiting early-life scenes involving trauma or abuse, it's important to remember that you are not reliving them. I'll provide a supportive and secure space for you to process and review these scenes safely, in a dissociated way, and gently help you to express your emotions and heal.
Just because you have traumatic memories, doesn't mean they'll be what comes up in a regression. People are often surprised by the way that small hardships or even mundane moments from childhood led them to form limiting beliefs they're still carrying.
If traumatic memories do surface, it's because they're still having a negative impact on your life today, and you're ready to address them. Your mind will not bring up more than you're resourced to handle, and as adults, we are always far more resourced than we were in childhood.
By committing to this process, you can unburden yourself, find peace, and make space for more desirable emotions and experiences.
Can you give me false memories?
I intentionally use techniques and language patterns that protect you from this phenomenon. I will never ask leading questions, and always ensure that the narrative that unfolds comes directly from you, without my interference.
It's worth noting that even when a memory comes exclusively from you, it doesn't mean it's 100% true! Memory is a funny composite of reality, perception, and fantasy. Did you know that every time we consciously remember an event, we change it a bit? And sometimes, "memories" that surface in hypnosis are purely metaphorical.
Either way, the stories that emerge always emerge for a reason, and so I do advise my clients to take responsibility for processing whatever comes up. It's meaningful to you, even if it doesn't feel precisely "true."
Will I remember the experience?
Most likely, yes! I always deliver suggestions to help you remember the whole session. In the event your mind wanders, just know that it doesn't matter how much you remember consciously—trust that your subconscious had a productive and meaningful experience.
